The Cat Album ‘14 (director’s cut) - The “updated” - “new” version of “The Cat Album” from ‘01,
with two new songs (for a total of 30 songs), and new takes of select songs as noted.
The Cat Album ‘14 - 14 songs with newly recorded
takes of nine songs from the original ‘01 album
What is “The Cat Album”? Here’s a review by Scram Magazine(ScramMagazine.com):
“Cat lovers and fans of gentle, sixties -inflected pop alike will be tickled by Doug Newman’s
affectionate tribute to the kitties in his life. I’m both, and really dig this sweet and charming disc.
The tunes are catchy and the themes well drawn from life, with songs about cats lost and (happily) found,
not really wanting to give away that litter of kittens, honoring a cat’s need for independence, ear mite
infestations and weird things cats like to eat. …” Kim Cooper – Scram Magazine.
“The Sandhill Waltz” is a collection of songs from my days in Kansas City and Minnesota.
All the tunes were recorded at my homes – or I should say, my apartments and rooms I’ve
had over the years – some here in Los Angeles where I am now, using my present home
recording system and the rest from back in Kansas City using an old reel-to-reel and
cassette player. All songs were written by me except for “Dina’s Song”, which is a song
of my brother Dwight’s, and “Wish You Knew” and “Cascade Creek”, which we co-wrote.
Dwight sings harmony on “The Coyote and the Prairie Dog” and plays the second guitar part
on the reprised- second take of “Send Her Back to Me”, and the rhythm guitar part on a
reprised-second take of “The Sandhill Waltz”.
“Bugs and Critters” is 28 songs (with 11 bonus tracks available at Google Music and 8 at
iTunes and Amazon) of mine, with “The Bug Song” by my brother Chad, mostly about bugs
and critters. All acoustic guitar and me singing.
available at Google Music, iTunes, Amazon, Spotify etc., etc..
55 tracks - all songs of mine, except for “The Bug Song”, which was written
by my brother Chad, with a few of the tracks being reprised versions, all
contained within a two CD package, though technically it’s a quadruple album.
