Billy from Bodie by Doug Newman - parts one and two
(available at iTunes, Amazon and Google Play) from “Sierra Skies”
There once was a cowboy named Billy
he rode on the trail to Bodie
to try his hand at some minin’ / he done had his fill of wranglin’
his fortune in gold he would seek
He hit him a vein and sure struck it rich
but it didn't do Billy no good you see
when he got him some whores and whiskey
and next thing you know had v d
Oh Billy oh Billy
he's (he was, he went) itchin and scratchin' 'round town
he got him some whores and whiskey
and that's what brought Billy on down
Was it Thelma or Sally
or Rosie or sweet Auntie Em
they were the beauties of Bodie
oh how could they do this to him
Chorus
So don't you be like poor ole Billy
or them sweet whores will bring you on down
just build you a campfire and make up some smores
and stay away from them dang ole whores
Oh Billy oh Billy
you should just had a campfire and smores
but you just couldn't help yourself Billy
when it came to them dang beautiful whores

additional verses: (part two)
They say Billy became a slobberin' fool
and lost his mind in a syphilitic fit
and ran through the bushes like a crazy buckin' horse
and got himself rattlesnake bit
They found him weeks later cleaned clear to the bone
or so the legend is told
seems all the coyotes left of poor Billy right there
were his pockets plumb full of his gold
And if you're a thinkin' the story somehow ends here
well I only wish it were so
them coyotes came rampagin' like crazy slobberin' fools
bent on revenge to those dang ole' hos
They said it was a hundred more like two hundred I'd say
done just about bit everyone
and that's how our town of Bodie fell that day
poetically like the western setting sun
Oh Billy oh Billy
one day he went out whorin' around
and it all ended up with those crazy coyotes
bringin' poor Bodie on down
bringin' Bodie, California to the ground
